WHAT THIS IS
Daily writing on media, politics, culture — and the occasional thing that doesn't fit anywhere else.
I’ve spent fifteen years writing daily about the media business — most of it as Founding Editor of Mediaite. This site is where some of that writing lives now too.
What you’ll find here:
A daily column on media, politics, and culture, delivered to your inbox most weekday mornings. Sharp, opinionated, sometimes wrong, never boring.
Reporting and analysis you won’t read elsewhere. Cable news, the streaming and YouTube wars, the influencer-class crossover, the slow collapse of legacy news brands and what’s replacing them. I’ve spent a long time inside this business and I know where the bodies are buried.
The occasional cultural detour. I consume a lot of media — film, television, music — and when something’s worth writing about, I’ll write about it here. Not entertainment-blog stuff. The things that catch my attention and seem to mean something.
For now, everything is free. In a few weeks I’ll launch a paid tier with a weekly inside-the-business piece for subscribers — the kind of thing that’s too long, too argued, or too risky for a daily column. If you want to support independent media writing from someone who’s been doing it for a long time, that’ll be the way.
In the meantime: subscribe, forward to a friend who’d care, and hit reply with thoughts. I read everything.
Glad you’re here. Let’s get to work.
